DISCUSSION OF AMENDING SECTION 2-1-2 OF THE TEMPLE CITY MUNICIPAL\nCODE PERTAINING TO CITY COUNCIL COMPENSATION IN LIGHT OF SENATE\nBILL 329\nThe Governor signed Senate Bill 329 (“SB 329”) in June which allows cities a one-time\nchance to “reset” city council salaries to take into account inflation, the work done by\nlocal government officials, and the need to ensure that people are not discouraged from\nseeking city office due to the low pay and high demands of that office.\nPresenter: City Attorney\nRecommendation:\n1. Receive a report on the effects of Senate Bill 329 (Attachment “A”) on City\nCouncil salaries across the State; and\n2. Give the City Attorney and City Manager direction regarding potential changes to\nthe City Council’s salary through an ordinance aligning with Senate Bill 329.
