RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF THE MEMBERS\nOF THE SCREEN ACTORS GUILD - AMERICAN\nFEDERATION OF TELEVISION AND RADIO\nARTISTS (SAG-AFTRA) UNION AND\nENCOURAGING THE RESUMPTION OF\nNEGOTIATIONS TO REACH A FAIR CONTRACT\nWITH THE ALLIANCE OF MOTION PICTURE AND\nTELEVISION PRODUCERS (AMPTP). DIRECTION\nTO LEGISLATIVE AFFAIRS STAFF TO SUPPORT\nLEGISLATIVE EFFORTS AIMED AT SUPPORTING\nSTRIKING WORKERS [C. BYERS, J. ERICKSON,\nY. QUARKER, H. MOLINA, M. WATSON]:\nThe City Council will consider adopting a resolution in\nsupport of the members of the Screen Actors Guild -\nAmerican Federation of Television and Radio Artists\n(SAG-AFTRA) and encouraging the resumption of\nnegotiations to reach a fair contract with the Alliance\nof Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP).\nIn addition, the City Council will consider directing\nCommunity & Legislative Affairs division (CLA) staff\nto support legislative efforts aimed at supporting\nstriking workers.\nRECOMMENDATIONS: 1) Adopt Resolution No. 23-\n___________ "A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY\nCOUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST HOLLYWOOD IN\nSUPPORT OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SCREEN\nACTORS GUILD - AMERICAN FEDERATION OF\nTELEVISION AND RADIO ARTISTS (SAG-AFTRA)\nAND ENCOURAGING THE RESUMPTION OF\nNEGOTIATIONS TO REACH A FAIR CONTRACT\nWITH THE ALLIANCE OF MOTION PICTURE AND\nTELEVISION PRODUCERS (AMPTP)"; 2) Direct staff\nto send copies of the adopted resolution to SAG-\nAFTRA and AMPTP leadership, and other parties as\ndeemed appropriate; and 3) Direct the Community &\nLegislative Affairs staff to work with the City's state\nlobbyist to support legislative efforts aimed at\nsupporting striking workers.\nSTAFF REPORT
