B Consideration and possible action to provide direction to staff regarding the\nCity Council vacancy.\nRecommendation to City Council: 1) Prepare the necessary documents to call a\nspecial election on March 5, 2024, to fill the vacant seat; or 2) Establish a process\nto appoint a resident from Council District 1 of the City to serve as Council Member\nfor a term ending in December 2024 (at the declaration of the results of the next\nregularly scheduled Municipal Election on November 5, 2024), as follows:\na) Approve the Application Process (Exhibit A) and Application Packet for\nAppointment to the Bellflower City Council (Exhibit B); b) Authorize the City Clerk\nto make the Application Packet available beginning August 29, 2023 and follow the\nApplication Process to accept applications from qualified residents until 5:00 p.m.,\non September 5, 2023, to fill the District 1 City Council seat; or 3) Alternatively,\ndiscuss and take other action related to this item.
