3. CITY MANAGER’S OFFICE\nStaff report recommending that the Mayor and Council Members adopt a\nresolution ratifying the appointment of members to the South Bay Workforce\nInvestment Board (SBWIB) as set forth below:\n1. The City of Hawthorne reappoints Mr. Tod Sword, Economic Development\nConsultant for Southern California Edison, to serve a new four-year term of\noffice that will expire on June 30, 2027.\n2. The City of Gardena reappoints Mr. Glenn Mitchell, Chief Executive Officer\nof Gardena General Insurance Agency, to serve a four-year term of office\nthat will expire on June 30, 2027, and the City of Gardena appoints Ms.\nCatherine Holdbrook-Smith, Human Resources Manager for Magnetika, to\nthe SBWIB as a business private sector representative under an existing\nterm of office expiring on June 30, 2024 and a new term of office that will\nexpire on June 30, 2028. NOTE: The City also appointed Ms. Shirley\nSummers, Chief Executive Officer of Behavioral Health Services, to serve\nas a business private sector representative under an existing four-year term\nof office expiring on June 30, 2026. However, on July 31, 2023, Ms. Shirley\nSummers retired and on August 3, 2023, the City of Gardena was made\naware of Ms. Summers’s retirement. The City of Gardena will submit a new\nappointee to serve as the Gardena business private sector representative to\nreplace Ms. Summers on the SBWIB.\n3. The City of Redondo Beach reappoints Mr. Donald Ford, President of\nTraining Education Management, LLC, to serve an additional four-year term\nof office that expires on June 30, 2027.\n4) The City of Lomita appoints Mr. Nayeem Khan, Sales Manager for Lomita\nMail & Print, to serve a four-year term of office that commences on July 1,\n2023, and will expire on June 30, 2027.\n5. The City of Torrance reappoints Mr. Sanjay Murty, Vice President of Murti\nLLC, to serve a new four-year term of office that will expire on June 30,\n2027, and the City of Torrance also reappoints Ms. Fran Fulton, Economic\nDevelopment Manager for the City of Torrance, to the SBWIB as an\neconomic and community development representative under a new term of\noffice that will expire on June 30, 2027.\n6. The South Bay Adult Education Consortium re-nominates Dr. Wayne Diulio,\nDirector of Torrance Adult School, to serve a new four-year term of office\nthat commences on July 1, 2023, and will expire on June 30, 2027.\n7. The South Bay Workforce Investment Board, Inc. re-nominates Mr.\nMohammad Naser, Chief Executive Officer of Centinela Hospital Medical\nCenter, and also nominates Ms. Crystal Spencer, President of Spencer 4 Hire\nSecurity, to serve on the SBWIB under new terms of office that will expire\non June 30, 2028. The SBWIB, Inc. Board of Directors nominates Mr.\nJason Witt, Senior Director of Community Affairs and Engagement for SoFi\nStadium/Hollywood Park, to the SBWIB to serve a four-year term of office\nthat will commence on July 1, 2023, and will expire on June 30, 2027.\nRecommendation:\n1.
