19. Honest Work, Fair Pay: Improving Worker Protection Enforcement at the\nOffice of Labor Equity\nRecommendation as submitted by Supervisors Mitchell and Solis: Authorize the\nDirector of Consumer and Business Affairs, under Government Code Section\n53060.4, to issue subpoenas relevant to any investigation of labor protection\nviolations for the purposes of examination of any person, or books, papers,\nrecords, or other items relevant to investigations under the County's Office of\nLabor Equity’s jurisdiction; grant authority to the Director of Consumer and\nBusiness Affairs, through the Office of Labor Equity, to enforce the California\nLabor Code to the extent permitted by State law; and instruct County Counsel,\nin collaboration with the Director of Consumer and Business Affairs, to return to\nthe Board with an ordinance for adoption to consolidate and codify permanent\nauthority, currently delegated by the Board, to the Director of Consumer and\nBusiness Affairs, to conduct all necessary activities to properly implement and\nenforce workplace and worker protection ordinances under the purview of the\nOffice of Labor Equity.
