Hearing on Ordinance for Adoption Amending County Code, Title 8 -\nConsumer Protection, Business and Wage Regulation\nHearing on ordinance for adoption amending County Code, Title 8 - Consumer\nProtection, Business and Wage Regulation, adding Chapter 8.42 - Sidewalk\nVending, to regulate sidewalk vendors on public sidewalks and pedestrian paths\nin the unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County, requiring Sidewalk\nVendors to annually apply for a Sidewalk Vendor Registration Certificate,\ncreates administrative procedures for a sidewalk vendor program to be\nadministered by the Department of Economic Opportunity, regulates the\noperations of sidewalk vendors, including distancing and equipment\nrequirements to ensure public health, safety, and welfare, establishes an\nenforcement and appeals process including fines and penalties, and requires a\nfee amount of $604 for an initial registration application and annual renewal as\nrecommended by the Auditor-Controller for the reasonable regulatory costs for\nissuing the registration certificates and enforcing Chapter 8.42, with the fee\namount of $604 will be subsidized by the Department of Economic Opportunity\nand the fee amount reduced to $0 in the first year of the program.\n(Department of Economic Opportunity) NOTE: The Director of Economic\nOpportunity requests that this item be continued to January 30, 2024.\nDocumentation not available at the printing of the agenda.
