6.G. A RESOLUTION CONDEMNING THE\nCONFLICT IN ETHIOPIA AND STANDING IN\nSOLIDARITY WITH THE PEOPLE OF\nETHIOPIA [S. SHYNE, Y. QUARKER, H.\nMOLINA, J. DEL TORO, M. WATSON]:\nSUBJECT: The City Council will consider\nadopting a resolution condemning the\nconflict taking place in Ethiopia and\nstanding in solidarity with the people of\nEthiopia. The current conflict, primarily in\nthe Tigray region in northern Ethiopia, has\nevolved into a humanitarian crisis with\nmillions of people in need of assistance\ndue to food shortages, displacement, and\na lack of basic services.\nRECOMMENDATIONS: 1) Adopt Resolution\nNo. 23-________ "A RESOLUTION\nCONDEMNING THE CONFLICT IN\nETHIOPIA AND STANDING IN SOLIDARITY\nWITH THE PEOPLE OF ETHIOPIA"; and 2)\nDirect staff to send a letter to President\nJoe Biden and copies of the letter to\nSecretary of State Anthony Blinken,\nNational Security Advisor Jake Sullivan,\nUSAID Administrator Samantha Power,\nSenators Alex Padilla and Laphonza\nButler, Representative Adam Schiff,\nCalifornia Governor Gavin Newsom,\nCalifornia State Senator Ben Allen, and\nCalifornia Assembly Member Rick Chavez\nZbur, and others as deemed appropriate.\nSTAFF REPORT\nITEM 6.G. - ATTACHMENT A\nMEMO - REGARDING ATTACHMENT A
