24. Whittier Boulevard Enhanced Maintenance Services Contract\nRecommendation: Find that enhanced maintenance services can be performed\nmore economically by an independent contractor than by County employees;\naward and instruct the Chair to sign a contract to Woods Maintenance\nServices, Inc., a Local Small Business Enterprise, for Whittier Boulevard\nenhanced maintenance services in the unincorporated County area of East Los\nAngeles (1), for a one-year term with three one-year and up to six\nmonth-to-month extension options, for a maximum potential contract term of 54\nmonths and a maximum potential contract amount of $2,954,952; find that the\ncontract is exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act; and authorize\nthe Director of Public Works to take the following actions: (Department of\nPublic Works) APPROVE\nExercise the extension options if, in the opinion of the Director, Woods\nMaintenance Services, Inc. has successfully performed during the\nprevious contract period, and services are still required;\nExecute amendments to incorporate necessary changes within the scope\nof work, and suspend work if it is in the best interest of the County; and\nAnnually increase the contract amount up to an additional 10% of the\nannual contract amount, which is included in the maximum potential\ncontract amount for unforeseen additional work within the scope of the\ncontract, if required.
