55. Community Oriented Policing Services\nRecommendation: Authorize the Sheriff, as an agent for the County, to accept\na grant award from the United States Department of Justice (DOJ) Office of\nCommunity Oriented Policing Services (COPS), in the amount of $175,000,\nwith no match requirement, to develop and test creative approaches to prevent\ncrime and promote safety in the communities served by the Sheriff’s\nDepartment, for the grant period of October 1, 2023 through September 30,\n2024; execute and submit all required grant documents including, but not limited\nto, applications, agreements, modifications, extensions, annual expenditure\nreports, final reports, and payment requests, which may be necessary for the\ncompletion of the grant; and authorize the Sheriff to take the following actions:\n(Sheriff’s Department) APPROVE 4-VOTES\nApply for and submit a grant application to the DOJ for the COPS grant\nin future fiscal years, and execute all required grant application\ndocuments;\nAccept all grant awards for the grant in future fiscal years, if awarded by\nthe DOJ, and execute all required grant award documents including, but\nnot limited to, agreements, modifications, extensions, annual expenditure\nreports, final reports, and payment requests, which may be necessary\nfor completion of the grant; and\nApprove an appropriation adjustment to increase the Department’s\nServices and Supplies appropriation by $175,000 for Fiscal Year\n2023-24 to be fully offset by revenue from the United States Department\nof Justice, Office of Community Oriented Policing Services.
