54. California Boating Safety and Enforcement Financial Aid Program for\nFiscal Year 2024-25 Resolution\nRecommendation: Adopt a resolution to accept funding offered by the State of\nCalifornia Department of Parks and Recreation, Division of Boating and\nWaterways (DBW) in support of boating safety and enforcement on waters\nwithin the County, and as detailed below; and find that the resolution and the\nfunding of the County programs are exempt from the California Environmental\nQuality Act: (Sheriff’s Department) ADOPT\nAccepts the Legislature's commitment to provide future baseline funding\nfor the County and gives priority consideration to any application\nsubmitted by the County to secure State funding;\nReaffirms the continued participation of the County, through the Sheriff's\nDepartment, in the California Boating Safety and Enforcement Financial\nAid Program (Program) for Fiscal Year 2024-25;\nCertifies that the County, as a participant in the Program, shall expend\nthe equivalent of 100% of its revenues collected from personal property\ntax on vessels of boat owners within the County for boating safety and\nenforcement;\nAuthorizes the Sheriff, as an agent of the County, to sign and submit an\napplication and related expenditure reimbursement claims to DBW for\nState funding, and sign the grant award agreement, if awarded;\nAuthorizes the State funding received through the Program to be\ndistributed to the Sheriff’s Department; and\nAuthorizes the Auditor-Controller to certify the amount of prior year\nvessel taxes received by the County.
