6.B. HEPATITIS C: PUBLIC FORUM - HOW TO\nGET TO ZERO CASES OF HEPATITIS C [J.\nERICKSON, Y. QUARKER, A. LOVANO, H.\nMOLINA, M. WATSON]:\nThe City Council will consider approving the\nsponsorship of a public forum to raise\nawareness about the presence of Hepatitis C\n(HCV) in the community and Los Angeles\nCounty, how to prevent new infections,\nprovide information about the availability of\nextremely successful treatments, and remove\nbarriers to such treatments. In addition, this\nitem directs staff to work with the County’s\nDepartment of Public Health (DPH) and other\ncommunity stakeholders to develop an\ninitiative to reduce transmission and link up\nHCV+ individuals to treatments.\nRECOMMENDATIONS: 1) Approve the\nsponsorship of a public forum to raise\nawareness about the presence of Hepatitis C\nin the community and Los Angeles County, as\nwell as prevention and treatment of the\ndisease; 2) Direct City staff to work with Los\nAngeles County's DPH and other community\npartners to ensure information and resources\nare available to West Hollywood residents; 3)\nDirect staff to work with the Office of\nSupervisor Lindsey P. Horvath, DPH,\ncommunity partners, and other cities to\ndevelop a Hep C Zero initiative, countywide;\n4) Authorize the use of the City name and logo\non invitations, programs, and other collateral\nmaterials for the event; 5) Direct the\nCommunications Department to utilize all\nappropriate communication tools to promote\nthe event including, but not limited to, the\nCity's website, a news release, and social\nmedia; 6) Waive parking fees at the 5-story\nparking lot for up to 2 hours for up to 50\nattendees, at a total cost of $400; and 7)\nAuthorize the Director of Finance and\nTechnology Services to allocate $1,900 from\nFiscal Year 2022-23 funds in the Special\nCouncil Programs account number 100-1-01-\n00-531001 for costs associated with this event\nfor technical support (Waveguide), moderator\nfees, and marketing materials.\nSTAFF REPORT
