30. SECOND READING AND ADOPTION OF AN ORDINANCE APPROVING AN\nUPDATED AB 481 POLICY – F2M22-41, O2M24-4827\nOn April 25, 2022, the City Council adopted Ordinance No. O2M22-4803 approving a\nMilitary Equipment Use Policy (“Policy”) pursuant to assembly Bill 481 (“AB 481”). In\naccordance with the legislation and the Policy, a military equipment report must be\nsubmitted to the City Council annually for each type of military equipment approved within\none year of approval, and annually thereafter for as long as the military equipment is\navailable for use. Alhambra’s 2023 Annual Military Equipment Report, proposed 2024\nmilitary equipment purchases, and the Police Department’s updated policy are outlined in\nthe Chief of Police’s staff report dated February 12, 2024. The Council approved the 2023\nAnnual Military Equipment Report and gave first reading to this ordinance approving an\nupdated policy for the use of military equipment at the February 12, 2024 meeting.\nRecommended Action: City Council declare introduced for its second reading and\nadopt the following ordinance entitled:\nOrdinance No. O2M24-4827: An Ordinance of the City Council of the City of\nAlhambra implementing AB 481 by approving an updated policy for the use of\nmilitary equipment by the Alhambra Police Department
