Temple City
City Council
A. DISCUSSION OF AMENDING SECTION 2-1-2 OF THE TEMPLE CITY MUNICIPAL
CODE PERTAINING TO CITY COUNCIL COMPENSATION IN LIGHT OF SENATE
BILL 329
The Governor signed Senate Bill 329 (“SB 329”) in June which allows cities a one-time
chance to “reset” city council salaries to take into account inflation, the work done by
local government officials, and the need to ensure that people are not discouraged from
seeking city office due to the low pay and high demands of that office.
Presenter: City Attorney
Recommendation:
1. Receive a report on the effects of Senate Bill 329 (Attachment “A”) on City
Council salaries across the State; and
2. Give the City Attorney and City Manager direction regarding potential changes to
the City Council’s salary through an ordinance aligning with Senate Bill 329.
