8G. Award Construction Contract for the Citywide Leading Pedestrian Intervals (LPI) Project (CS22B). Environmental Considerations: The project is exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) pursuant to CEQA Guidelines Section 15301(c), which categorically exempts minor alterations to existing public streets, sidewalks, gutters, and similar facilities, including the replacement or reconstruction of existing structures and facilities. This exemption includes improvements, such as pedestrian crossings, and other similar alterations that do not create additional automobile lanes. Implementation of LPI operations modifies operations at existing signalized intersections to provide pedestrian safety enhancements.
