10. Proclaiming April 2024 as “Sexual Assault Awareness Month: Building\nConnected Communities and Prison Rape Elimination Act Compliance”\nRecommendation as submitted by Supervisor Solis: Proclaim April 2024 as\n“Sexual Assault Awareness Month” throughout Los Angeles County; direct the\nChief Executive Officer, through its County Communications Branch, to\npromote the efforts of County Departments’ educational and awareness\ncampaigns and events for “Sexual Assault Awareness Month,” on the County\nwebsite, including in high-usage languages; and take the following actions:\nRequest the Sheriff and instruct the Chief Probation Officer to ensure all\nfacilities that hold incarcerated adults and youth are Prison Rape\nElimination Act (PREA) compliant with standards and training; report\nback to the Board in writing in 60 days on PREA compliance status; and\npresent to the Sheriff Civilian Oversight Commission and Probation\nOversight Commission, respectively, on the contents of the PREA\ncompliance status report within 30 days of its issuance; and\nInstruct the Inspector General, and the Executive Directors of the Sheriff\nCivilian Oversight Commission and the Probation Oversight Commission,\nto review the PREA compliance status report, and report back to the\nBoard in writing within 60 days, with recommendations and proposed\nnext steps for the Sheriff’s and Probation Departments to achieve and\nmaintain PREA compliance.
