44. Sunshine Shuttle Services Contract\nRecommendation: Find that shuttle services can be performed more\neconomically by an independent contractor; award and instruct the Chair to\nsign a contract with Southland Transit, Inc., for Sunshine Shuttle service in the\nunincorporated County community of South Whittier (4), for a period of six\nmonths, with four one-year and six month-to-month extension options, for a\nmaximum potential contract term of 60 months, and a maximum potential\ncontract amount of $13,778,375; authorize the Director of Public Works to\nexercise the extension options if, in the opinion of the Director, Southland\nTransit, Inc. has successfully performed during the previous contract period,\nand the services are still required, approve and execute amendments to\nincorporate necessary changes within the scope of work, and suspend work, if\nit is in the best interest of the County, and annually increase the contract\namount up to an additional 10% of the annual contract amount, which is\nincluded in the maximum potential contract amount, for unforeseen additional\nwork within the scope of the contract, if required; and find that the contract\nwork is exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act.
