6.D. DEVELOPMENT OF A CITY POLICY REQUIRING SUSTAINABLE AND\nCLIMATE-FRIENDLY FOOD CHOICES FOR CITY PRODUCED\nEVENTS [C. BYERS, Y. QUARKER, A. LOVANO, H. MOLINA, M.\nWATSON]:\nSUBJECT: The City Council will consider directing staff to draft a policy\nmandating all City produced events in which food/refreshments are\nprovided serve plant-based food/refreshments by default, which would\nrequire allowing people to opt into food/refreshments with animal products.\nRECOMMENDATIONS: 1) Direct staff to draft a City policy requiring that\nwhen City-produced events serve food/refreshments, the\nfood/refreshments shall be plant-based by default, allowing people to opt\ninto food/refreshments with animal products; and 2) Staff to report back to\nthe City Council in sixty (60) days with draft policy and Resolution.
