(36) 26-0002-S18 RULES, ELECTIONS AND INTERGOVERNMENTAL RELATIONS COMMITTEE REPORT and RESOLUTION relative to establishing the City’s position on Legislation and/or Administrative action to protect patients and healthcare providers from immigration enforcement actions in healthcare environments. Recommendation for Council action, pursuant to Resolution (Jurado - Hernandez), SUBJECT TO THE CONCURRENCE OF THE MAYOR: RESOLVE to include in the City’s 2025-26 State and Federal Legislative Programs SUPPORT for Legislation and/or Administrative Action which would strengthen protections for patients and healthcare providers from immigration enforcement actions in healthcare environments by establishing clear policies governing interactions between healthcare facilities and federal immigration enforcement, including safeguards to protect patient privacy, comply with federal and state medical confidentiality laws, and limit immigration enforcement activity within patient care areas except where required by a valid judicial warrant. Fiscal Impact Statement: None submitted by the Chief Legislative Analyst. The City Administrative Officer has not completed a financial analysis of this report.
