(21) 26-0906-S9 ENERGY AND ENVIRONMENT COMMITTEE REPORT relative to establishing an Environmental Justice and Advocacy Advisory Commission. Recommendation for Council action, pursuant to Motion (Jurado - Soto-Martínez): INSTRUCT the Civil and Human Rights and Equity Department, with assistance from the City Attorney and any other department as needed, to report, in 90 days, on the feasibility of establishing an Environmental Justice and Advocacy Advisory Commission designed to engage communities citywide on Los Angeles’ persistent environmental justice issues, foster sustainable education initiatives, promote equity in sustainable benefits, and to advise the Mayor and Council on policy recommendations. This report should include recommendations for the prospective Commission to include a wide and diverse representation of community-based stakeholder organizations to inform the mission and bylaws, and to establish a process where prospective commissioners are appointed by the Mayor and Council. Fiscal Impact Statement: Neither the City Administrative Officer nor the Chief Legislative Analyst has completed a financial analysis of this report.
