CIVIL RIGHTS, IMMIGRATION, SOCIAL SERVICES, AND
NEIGHBORHOODS COMMITTEE REPORT relative to actions the City
is currently taking to respond to the termination of Temporary Protected
Status (TPS) for Salvadoran and other communities of TPS holders in
Los Angeles; and related matters.
Recommendations for Council action, pursuant to (Rodriguez - Soto-
Martinez - Harris-Dawson):
DIRECT the CID, in consultation with the Mayor's Office of Immigrant
Affairs and with support from other Departments as needed, to
provide a brief report to Council within 14 days on the following:
a. Actions the City is currently taking to respond to the termination
of TPS for Salvadoran and other communities of TPS holders in
Los Angeles.
b. Recommendations for additional actions the City could take to
address the termination of TPS for Salvadoran and other TPS
holders in Los Angeles, including:
i. Additional investment in or utilization of RepresentLA.
ii. Rental assistance or other financial assistance.
iii. Outreach and education.
iv. Supports for particularly vulnerable communities within the
TPS population, including young people, older adults, and
deeply low-income individuals.
c. An analysis of the potential economic impacts of these TPS
terminations, including industries likely to be affected and the
impacts to those industries.
Fiscal Impact Statement: Neither the City Administrative Officer nor
the Chief Legislative Analyst has completed a financial analysis of this
report.
