56. Street Sweeping Services Contract\nRecommendation: Find that the street sweeping services can be more\neconomically performed by an independent contractor; award and instruct the\nChair to sign a contract with Athens Services, for street sweeping services in\nthe unincorporated County area of South Whittier (4) for a period of one year\nwith three one-year and up to six month-to-month extension options, for a\nmaximum potential contract term of 54 months, and a maximum potential\ncontract amount of $6,508,399; find that the contract work is exempt from the\nCalifornia Environmental Quality Act; and authorize the Director of Public works\nto take the following actions: (Department of Public Works) APPROVE\nRenew the contract for each additional renewal option and extension\nperiod if, in the opinion of the Director, the contractor has successfully\nperformed during the previous contract period and the services are still\nrequired, to approve and execute amendments to incorporate necessary\nchanges within the scope of work, and to suspend work if it is in the best\ninterest of the County to do so; and\nAnnually increase the contract amount up to an additional 10% of the\nannual contract amount, which is included in the maximum potential\ncontract amount for unforeseen additional work within the scope of the\ncontract if required, and adjust the annual contract amount for each\noption year over the term of the contract to allow for disposal and fuel\nadjustment cost in accordance with the contract.
