8. Abortion Safe Haven for Arizona Residents\nRecommendation as submitted by Supervisor Horvath: Instruct the Director of\nHealth Services, in consultation with County Counsel, to report back to the\nBoard in writing in 30 days on the feasibility of integrating Arizona pre-qualified\nPhysicians to the abortion access line (877-CARE121) workflows for\nmedication management services; instruct the Director of Health Services to\nreport back to the Board in writing in 180 days on a plan to increase capacity\nfor procedural abortions in the Department of Health Services and identify\nfunding and resource needs; instruct the Director of Public Health to make the\nAbortion Safe Haven website and the resource guide available to Arizona\nDepartment of Public Health counterparts, health care providers, reproductive\njustice community-based organizations, and others to ensure that Arizona\nresidents can access reproductive health services and accompanying support\nservices in the County, amplify State messaging and assist in educating\nArizona licensed physicians, on the steps that need to be taken to provide\nreproductive health care in the County, and report back to the Board in writing\nin 60 days on the status of the efforts outlined above; and direct the Chief\nExecutive Officer, through the Legislative Affairs and Intergovernmental\nRelations Branch, to express support for Senate Bill 233 (Skinner and\nAguiar-Curry), legislation which would temporarily allow licensed Arizona\ndoctors in good standing to provide abortion and abortion-related care to\nArizona patients traveling to California through November 30, 2024.
