Promoting Food Equity and Nutrition by Proclaiming May 2024 “CalFresh\nAwareness Month” in Los Angeles County\nRecommendation as submitted by Supervisors Horvath and Hahn: Proclaim\nMay 2024 as “CalFresh Awareness Month” throughout Los Angeles County;\ninstruct the Director of Public Social Services to work with appropriate County\nDepartment Heads and community partners to organize the CalFresh\nAwareness Month Community Kick-off Event and Resource Fair to be held on\nWednesday, May 8, 2024 at Mar Vista Park; instruct all County Departments to\npromote CalFresh and other effective food and nutrition programs, as well as all\nCalFresh Awareness Month outreach events and activities, through social media\nand other public messaging efforts; encourage County residents who believe\nthey may need food assistance to apply for CalFresh at BenefitsCal.com; and\nencourage County residents to donate their time and/or resources to local food\nbanks.
