15. Addressing Disparities in the Self-Determination Program\nRecommendation as submitted by Supervisor Solis: Instruct the Director of\nAging and Disabilities to engage with the regional centers within the County to\ndevelop a plan and recommendations, in collaboration with the Los Angeles\nCounty Commission on Disabilities, for actions the County can take in assisting\nwith disparities in the Self-Determination Program (SDP), and report back to\nthe Board in writing within 90 days including, but not be limited to, the following\nconsiderations:\nAssessment of available demographic data obtained from the regional\ncenters of County participants in the SDP and an identification of\nneeded populations of focus experiencing disparities in enrollment and\nparticipation in the SDP;\nDevelop and execute a community engagement strategy in multiple\nlanguages utilizing traditional, ethnic, hyperlocal, and social media, to\nraise awareness of the SDP Countywide, with an emphasis on identified\ncommunities and populations experiencing disparities;\nPartner with the regional centers and make recommendations to assist\ninterested participants in overcoming administrative challenges; and\nRecommendations for advocacy at the State level to reduce barriers and\nincrease access to the SDP for vulnerable communities.
