Item 59: Exemption of a Program Manager Position in the Office of the City Attorney from\nthe Classified Service.\nTotal Estimated Cost of Proposed Action and Funding Source:\nThis position will be cost-neutral and offset by both (1) $2.2 million in grant funds\nreceived from the CA Department of Justice to implement the San Diego Regional Gun\nViolence Response Task Force and related actions through June 30, 2027; and (2) a\nService Level Agreement with SDPD for this position to provide support to SDPD in its\nwork under an MOU with the San Diego County Superior Court to provide enforcement\nof firearm-prohibiting court orders under a $2 million state grant.\nCouncil District(s) Affected: Citywide.\nProposed Actions:\nAdopt the following Ordinance which was introduced on 5/14/2024, Item 331 (Council\nvoted 8-0, Councilmember Moreno-not present):\n(O-2024-107)\nOrdinance authorizing the exemption of a Program Manager position in the Office of the\nCity Attorney from the Classified Service, based on advisory review and favorable\ncomment by the Civil Service Commission on April 4, 2024. This position will be\nresponsible for managing and overseeing projects related to firearm-prohibiting policies\nand procedures.
