2.N. RESOLUTION DENOUNCING THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON\nBEACH’S RECENT MOTION AND FORTHCOMING ORDINANCE\nTO BAN THE DISPLAY OF THE PRIDE FLAG [J. ERICKSON, Y.\nQUARKER, A. LOVANO, J. DEL TORO]:\nThe City Council will consider adopting a resolution to denounce\nthe City of Huntington Beach’s recent motion and forthcoming\nordinance to ban the display of the LGBTQ+ Pride flag. The City\nCouncil will also consider suspending official travel to the City of\nHuntington Beach if it adopts the proposed ordinance and until\nsuch time as the new policy is revoked or amended.\nRECOMMENDATIONS: 1) Adopt Resolution No. 23-_______ "A\nRESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST\nHOLLYWOOD DENOUNCING THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON\nBEACH'S RECENT MOTION AND FORTHCOMING ORDINANCE\nTO BAN THE DISPLAY OF THE PRIDE FLAG"; 2) Direct staff to\nsend copies of the resolution to California Governor Gavin\nNewsom, California State Senator Ben Allen, California State\nAssembly Member Rick Chavez Zbur, Huntington Beach Mayor\nTony Strickland, and others as deemed appropriate; 3) Authorize\nthe City Manager to suspend official travel to the City of Huntington\nBeach if the proposed ordinance is approved and until such time as\nthe new policy is revoked or amended; and 4) Direct the\nCommunity & Legislative Affairs Division to maintain and update the\nlist of states and cities to which the City has suspended official\ntravel due to anti-LGBTQ+ policies and/or legislation and make this\nlist available on the City's website.\nSTAFF REPORT
