16. SB 1216 TRANSPORTATION PROJECTS: CLASS III BIKEWAYS: PROHIBITION\nSenate Bill 1216 (Blakespear) would prohibit, on and after January 1, 2025, an agency responsible\nfor the development or operation of bikeways or highways where bicycle travel is permitted from\ninstalling or restriping a Class III bikeway or a sharrow on a highway that has a posted speed limit\ngreater than 30 miles per hour. The City of Bell Gardens has a total of 243 sharrows located on\nroadways with a posted speed limit above 30 miles per hour.\nRecommendation:\nIt is staff's recommendation that the City Council either:\n1. Receive and file while staff tracks the bill; or\n2. Direct Staff to prepare a Council resolution to support or oppose SB 1216.
