6.B. RESOURCES AVAILABLE FOR RECENT IMMIGRANTS FROM THE\nFORMER SOVIET UNION [J. HEILMAN, Y. QUARKER, A. LOVANO, J.\nDEL TORO]:\nSUBJECT: The City Council will consider directing staff to identify existing\nresources available for recent immigrants from the countries of the former\nSoviet Union. City staff will be instructed to catalog existing resources,\nidentify gaps in existing services, especially gaps for temporary shelters,\nand make recommendations on how the City can help facilitate closing\nthose gaps.\nRECOMMENDATIONS: 1) Direct Human Services staff to research\nexisting services available for recent immigrants from the countries of the\nformer Soviet Union; 2) Direct Human Services staff to update information\non the City’s website about resources available for LGBTQI+ immigrants\nand asylum seekers; 3) Direct staff to identify any gaps in services,\nspecifically regarding temporary shelter for asylum seekers; and 4) Direct\nstaff to make recommendations for how the City can help facilitate filling\nany gaps that may exist.
