11. NOTICE OF COMPLETION: REHABILITATION OF GARFIELD RESERVOIR NO. 1\nPROJECT– F2M21-65, C2M21-61, M2M23-24\nOn December 13, 2021, the City Council awarded a contract to J. Colon Coatings Inc. for\nthe Rehabilitation of Garfield Reservoir No. 1 Project in the amount of $630,100. There\nwere four change orders authorized to complete the project. The change orders were due\nto unforeseen conditions associated with the floor condition that required repair.\nAdditional work was also required to repair the roof. These changes resulted in an increase\nto the contract by $30,225.22, bringing the total project cost to $660.325.22. The project\nhas been completed in accordance with the City’s requirements and specifications. As\nsuch, it would be appropriate for the City Council to accept the project as complete and\ninstruct the City Clerk that the Notice of Completion be filed with the County of Los Angeles\nRecorder’s Office.\nRecommended Action: City Council accept the work of J. Colon Coatings Inc. for\nthe Rehabilitation of Garfield Reservoir No. 1 Project as complete in the amount of\n$660,325.22; direct the Finance Director to allocate $30,225.22 from water fund balance\nto account number 401.80.8884.91903; direct the City Clerk to file a Notice of Completion\nwith the County of Los Angeles for recordation; direct the Finance Director to release the\nfive percent retention 35 days from the date of recordation if no liens are filed; and, direct\nstaff to undertake the steps necessary to finalize Council’s action.
