10. GRANT AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF ALHAMBRA AND THE SAN GABRIEL\nVALLEY MUNICIPAL WATER DISTRICT TO PURCHASE ADVANCED METER\nINFRASTRUCTURE (AMI) WATER METERS – F2M23-18, C2M23-11, M2M23-23\nThe San Gabriel Valley Municipal Water District (SGVMWD) provides reliable\nsupplemental water for the communities of Alhambra, Azusa, Monterey Park and Sierra\nMadre in a cost-effective and environmentally responsible manner. The SGVMWD has\nprovided its member agencies with financial assistance to implement programs that will\nincrease water conservation and water use efficiency. The City is actively implementing\nthe Advanced Meter Infrastructure (AMI) program which includes the purchase and\ninstallation of new water meters for residential, commercial, and irrigation users and can\nuse the SGVMWD funds to assist with AMI meter purchases. The AMI meters will improve\nthe City's ability to detect leaks, audit water usage, and accurately meter usage at each\nconnection.\nRecommended Action: City Council approve a Grant Agreement to receive an\namount of $50,000.00 from the San Gabriel Valley Municipal Water District to provide\nassistance to purchase AMI water meters; and, direct staff to take the steps necessary to\nfinalize Council’s action.
