C. DISCUSSION REGARDING THE FARMERS MARKET\nCity Council Regular Meeting Agenda – August 20, 2024 14\nIn late April, the City and Supporting Arms launched the San Gabriel Farmers\nMarket. The Farmers Market was located at the Park and Ride lot on Mission\nDrive and included 2-3 produce vendors, 6-7 artisan makers, and at least 4\nhot food vendors. The market also included live music, fun kid activities and\ninteractive activities with the Police Department, Fire Department, and\nPublic Works Department. In addition to the activities, City Staff advertised\nthe event via a mailer to the surrounding properties, street and pedestrian\nsignage, a month-long tote giveaway, and paid social media ads. Despite\nthese efforts, the Farmers Market was not able to consistently retain the\nvendors and attendance to the event decreased. There is no fiscal impact as\na result of this project.\nCalifornia Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Determination: Not a Project as\ndefined in Section 15378 of the State CEQA Guidelines.\nRecommended Action:\nStaff recommends that the City Council discuss the Farmers Market event\nand provide direction to staff regarding a new location, day, and time for\nthe Farmers Market.
