28. Proclaiming September as “National Suicide Prevention Awareness\nMonth” in Los Angeles County\nRecommendation as submitted by Supervisor Hahn: Proclaim September\n2024 as “National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month” throughout Los\nAngeles County, to increase awareness of suicide prevention in order to\nhelp reduce the number of suicide deaths in the County; proclaim\nSeptember 8, 2024 as “988 Day;” and instruct the Directors of Mental\nHealth and Public Health to promote awareness of suicide prevention\nresources including 988 Suicide Prevention and Mental Health Crisis Line,\nTeen Line, and California Department of Public Health’s Never a Bother\nCampaign, identify opportunities to support and coordinate ongoing suicide\nprevention activities for adults and youth, and improve the collection and\nsharing of suicide and suicide attempt data, and report back to the Board in\nwriting in 120 days on existing suicide prevention activities and potential\nopportunities.
