3. Bolstering Arts Education During Arts Education Week and Beyond\nRecommendation as submitted by Supervisor Barger: Declare September 9\nthrough 13, 2024 as “Arts Education Week” throughout Los Angeles County\nand encourage County Department Heads to share arts education\nresources on their websites, newsletters, and social media platforms;\ninstruct the Director of Arts and Culture to engage with the school districts\nthat are not yet part of the Arts Education Collective, including La Cañada,\nBonita, Bellflower, Long Beach, and El Segundo, to explore joining to\naccess the funding, networking, and coaching opportunities that would\nbecome available to them, and to reengage with districts they have not\nactively connected with in the last few years, and lead conversations about\nProposition 28 (Prop 28), the “Arts and Music in Schools Funding\nGuarantee and Accountability Act,” and explore further opportunities to\ngather data, host convenings, and offer resources to school districts related\nto the use of Prop 28 funding and report back to the Board in writing in 60\ndays on potential next steps; and direct the Chief Executive Officer to\nexplore philanthropic funding streams through the Center for Strategic\nPartnerships to support the arts education programming underway by the\nDepartment of Arts and Culture and the County’s cultural institutions and\nnonprofit partners.
