11. Proclaiming “Hispanic Heritage Month” in Los Angeles County\nRecommendation as submitted by Supervisor Solis: Proclaim September\n15 through October 15, 2024, as “Hispanic Heritage Month” throughout Los\nAngeles County, and acknowledge Cris Abrego, Assemblymember Miguel\nSantiago, Corinne Sanchez, Diego Rodriguez, Jose Miguel Ruiz, Josephine\nRamirez, Helen Torres, Lourdes Castro Ramirez, Richard Zaldivar, Roel\nGarcia, Sergio Rascón, and David Green for their selfless contributions;\ndirect the Chief Executive Officer, through the Countywide Communications\nOffice, along with all County Department Heads, and request the Sheriff,\nDistrict Attorney, Assessor, and the Superintendent of Schools of the Los\nAngeles County Office of Education, to work with LA Plaza de Cultura y\nArtes, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, The Music Center, the\nDirectors of Parks and Recreation and Arts and Culture, the County\nLibrarian, and the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation\nAuthority, in promoting their Hispanic Heritage Month related events,\nprograms and resources, including on respective websites and social media\nplatforms; and take the following actions;\nDirect the Chief Executive Officer to work with the Director of\nPersonnel and other Department Heads to identify $100,000 in\nongoing funding of existing resources for the East LA Mexican\nIndependence Day Parade in 2025, so that a County exhibition\nshowcasing career opportunities and social services can be\npresented similar to the financial support previously provided for the\nTaste of Soul Family Festival;\nAuthorize the Chief Executive Officer to prepare, execute and, if\nnecessary, amend and/or terminate any necessary documents or\nagreements with the event sponsors for the above purposes; and\nWaive parking fees, excluding the cost of liability insurance, as\nfollows:\n$750 in parking fees for 150 vehicles, in Lot 45, for community\nmembers attending the First District’s Hispanic Heritage Month\nReception on September 13, 2024; and\n$4,000 in parking fees for 400 vehicles in Lot 10, and $5,000 in\nparking fees for 500 vehicles in Lot 16, for community\nmembers attending El Grito: Annual Celebration of Mexican\nIndependence Day on September 15, 2024.
