23. Per- and Poly-Fluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) in Los Angeles County\nWater Systems Update\nRecommendation as submitted by Supervisor Hahn: Instruct the Director of\nPublic Health to move forward with the implementation of the referenced\nrecommendations, as directed below, within 120 days; and explore and\nreport back to the Board in writing in 120 days on ways State regulations\ncan reduce local exposures:\nDisseminate educational materials on Per- and poly-fluoroalkyl\nsubstances (PFAS) health effects and sources of PFAS exposure,\nincluding, for example, furniture, carpet, clothing, cookware, plastics,\nimported goods, and other common household products;\nPromote the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s Public\nPFAS Analytic Tools (https://echo.epa.gov/trends/pfas-tools), an\napplication that integrates data on PFAS reporting, testing, and\noccurrences in communities; and\nCollaborate with the Chief Executive Officer, through the Legislative\nAffairs and Intergovernmental Relations Branch, to advocate with the\nState to provide health advisories to water systems about PFAS\nMaximum Contaminant Levels, negative human health risks\nassociated with PFAS, encourage water systems to initiate voluntary\ntesting and information, and refer water systems to funding sources\nto assist with PFAS monitoring.
