2. ACCEPT QUITCLAIM DEED FROM ALHAMBRA UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT TO\nDEDICATE A PORTION OF SHORB STREET TO CITY OF ALHAMBRA – F2M24-8,\nF2M22-65, D2M24-2034, M2M24-164\n2\n9-9-24\nAs part of the Shorb Community Center project, the portion of Shorb Street between 6 th\nStreet and 7th Street will be vacated and incorporated into the community center project.\nEastbound Shorb Street will terminate around 7th Street while northbound and southbound\n6th Street will have no access to Shorb Street. The underlying fee to the street belongs to\nthe Alhambra Unified School District. The City had conversations with the School District\nabout the project and requested that the portion of Shorb Street be dedicated to the City\nto facilitate the project. On July 23, 2024 the Alhambra Unified School District Board of\nEducation approved the dedication of a portion of Shorb Street to the City of Alhambra\nthrough a quitclaim deed. Accepting the quitclaim deed will be the first step in the street\nvacation process which will be processed at a future date along with the Community\nCenter project.\nRecommended Action: City Council accept the quitclaim deed from the Alhambra\nUnified School District and authorize the City Clerk to sign the Certificate of Acceptance,\ndirect the City Clerk to record the appropriate documents and direct staff to undertake the\nsteps necessary to finalize the Council’s actions.
