4. CANCEL AWARD OF CONTRACT: PURCHASE OF ONE 7-YARD DUMP\nTRUCK FOR THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT – F2M21-6A, C2M23-3, M2M24-\n166\nOn January 9, 2023, the City Council awarded a contract to purchase a new dump truck\nfor the Public Works Department; however, due to the California Air Resources Board's\n(CARB) latest regulatory emission reduction mandates, Ford Motor Company cannot\nprovide the truck with a diesel engine option. Beginning on January 1, 2024, all state and\nlocal government fleets must ensure that 50% of their vehicle purchases are zero-\nemissions vehicles. By 2027, all vehicle purchases must be 100% electric. City staff is\n3\n9-9-24\nworking on a new specification for Notice Inviting Bids on an Electric Dump Truck for the\nPublic Works Division.\nRecommended Action: City Council rescind the contract with Rush Truck Centers\n(Contract No. C2M23-3) in the amount of $126,948.69; and, direct staff to undertake the\nsteps necessary to finalize Council’s action.
