Agenda Item 18

18. Supporting Funding for Public Schools and Community College Facilities\nRecommendation as submitted by Supervisors Solis and Horvath: Take an\nofficial position to support Proposition 2, legislation which would provide\n$8,500,000,000 to K-12 schools and $1,500,000,000 to community colleges to\nrenovate, fix, and construct facilities; and request the Superintendent of\nSchools of the Los Angeles County Office of Education, to work with school\ndistricts across the County to raise awareness of funding opportunities that may\nbe made available with the passage of Proposition 2, and proactively provide\ntechnical assistance to interested school districts to ensure they are prepared\nfor the first-come, first-served basis of funding opportunities available under\nProposition 2, with an emphasis to be placed on school districts that have fewer\nresources or lack the capacity when compared to more affluent districts.\n(24-4507)
