8. Adoption of a Resolution Approving 2024 Engineering and Traffic Survey and\nIntroduction of An Ordinance Setting Proposed Speed Limits Local speed limits are\nestablished by findings of an engineering study pursuant to California Vehicle Code Division 11\nChapter 7. Such studies are conducted to ensure speed limits are reflective of current\nconditions and to support enforcement of speed law with radar or other electronic equipment as\nused by the La Verne Police Department.The only roadway that is proposed to receive a speed\nlimit increase within this report is Wheeler Avenue from Arrow Highway to Puddingstone Drive,\nincreasing from 30 MPH to the proposed 35 MPH. All other speed limits will remain unchanged.\nRecommendation: That City Council:\n1. Adopt a Resolution titled, "A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF\nLA VERNE, STATE OF CALIFORNIA, ADOPTING AN ENGINEERING AND TRAFFIC\nSURVEY JUSTIFYING THE SPEED LIMIT ON CITY STREETS," and\n2. Introduce by title only and waive further reading of an Ordinance titled, "An Ordinance of\nthe City Council of the City of La Verne, STATE OF CALIFORNIA, RESCINDING\nORDINANCE NO. 1066 AND SETTING LOCAL SPEED LIMITS," establishing local\nspeed limits in accordance with the La Verne Municipal Code.
