24. 88 for 28: Creating a Regional Approach for the 2028 Olympic and\nParalympic Games\nRecommendation as submitted by Supervisor Horvath: Instruct the Director of\nParks and Recreation, in coordination with the Chief Executive Officer, to\nconvene representatives from the 88 cities, as well as unincorporated\ncommunities, in the County, in collaboration with relevant County Department\nHeads, to coordinate and support planning efforts, at a minimum, on a quarterly\nbasis effective January 1, 2025, with topics of the convenings to include, but\nnot be limited to, arts and culture, transportation, legislative advocacy, safety,\nsustainability, practice and training facilities for teams, fan zones (planning and\nlocations); request the Los Angeles Metropolitan Transportation Authority and\nLA28 to participate in the convenings, as needed; report back to the Board, on\na quarterly basis, in writing, on the summary of the convenings with\nrecommendations including , but not limited to, funding needs; direct the Chief\nExecutive Officer, in coordination with the Director of Parks and Recreation to\ndevelop a landing page on the Countywide website to host up-to-date\ninformation on the Games, a directory of key contacts for cities and other\npartners to access, and a catalog of available practice and training facilities as\nidentified by the cities and the County for teams, the webpage should also\ninclude best practices, lessons learned, and any other materials offered by the\nOlympics Summit held by the Mayor’s office , which can assist our cities with\ndeveloping activities to engage the public in the Olympics; and upon the\ncompletion of the catalogue of training and practice facilities, develop a\nmarketing plan, in collaboration with the Office of Protocol, within the Executive\nOffice of the Board, to promote sites to countries through local Consulates, with\ninformation to meet the needs of their teams, each identified facility should\ninclude details on the sport-use, facility type, location, point of contact,\ncapacity, hours of availability, accessibility features, reservation or permitting\nrequirements, and any other additional information.
