41. Park Maintenance, Mowing, and Landscape Maintenance Services\nContracts\nRecommendation: Find that the park maintenance, mowing, and landscape\nmaintenance services can be performed more economically by independent\ncontractors; approve and instruct the Chair to sign five contracts for park\nmaintenance, mowing, and/or landscape maintenance services (1, 2 and 5)\neach for a term of three years, with two one-year and six month-to-month\nextension options, if needed, for a total term of five years and six months, as\nfollows: with Parkwood Landscape Maintenance, Inc., for park maintenance\nservices at Altadena Area Parks at an annual amount not to exceed $368,627,\nand a total contract maximum amount of $2,027,449, and for park maintenance\nservices at La Puente Area Parks at an annual amount not to exceed $583,188,\nand a total contract maximum amount of $3,207,534; with Mariposa\nLandscapes, Inc. for mowing services at Frank G. Bonelli Regional Park at an\nannual amount not to exceed $67,488, and a total contract maximum amount of\n$371,184, for mowing services at Los Angeles Area Parks at an annual amount\nnot to exceed $48,456, and a total contract maximum amount of $266,507, and\nfor landscape maintenance services at the Los Angeles County Arboretum and\nBotanic Garden at an annual amount not to exceed $265,380, and a total\nmaximum contract amount of $1,459,590, the total maximum amount for each\ncontract is for the potential total term of 66 months and is inclusive of 10%\nincreases annually for unforeseen services; find that the proposed actions are\nnot a project under the California Environmental Quality Act; and authorize the\nDirector of Parks and Recreation to take the following actions: (Department of\nParks and Recreation) APPROVE\nExercise two additional one-year contract renewal options for each\ncontract, if, in the Director’s opinion, the contractors have effectively\nperformed the services during the previous contract period and the\nservices are still required, and, if needed, an additional six\nmonth-to-month extension for each contract, approve and execute\nchange notices and amendments to incorporate necessary changes\nwithin the statement of work, assign rights or delegation of duties should\nthe contracting entities merge, be acquired, or otherwise change entities,\nsuspend or terminate any contract if, in the opinion of the Director, it is\nin the best interest of the County;\nIncrease the contract amount for each contract by up to 10% in any\nyear, including any renewal option period, for any additional or\nunforeseen services within the scope of each contract;\nAdjust the annual contracts amount for each option year to allow for an\nannual Cost of Living Adjustment in accordance with County policy and\nthe terms of the contracts; and\nDecrease the contract amount for each contract in any year, including\nany renewal option period, as necessary, to reflect required\nmodifications in services and/or budget reductions.
