CONSIDERATION AND APPROVAL OF ORDINANCE NO. 1262,\nESTABLISHING A COMMISSION FOR THE ADVANCEMENT OF\nWOMEN AND GIRLS AND ADDING CHAPTER 2.50, “COMMISSION\nFOR THE ADVANCEMENT OF WOMEN AND GIRLS,” UNDER TITLE 2,\n“ADMINISTRATION AND PERSONNEL” TO THE SOUTH EL MONTE\nMUNICIPAL CODE\nIn January 2022 the City applied for a grant through the California\nCommission on the Status of Women and Girls (CCSWG) Women’s\nRecovery Response Grant and was awarded a grant in the amount of\n$25,000 to establish a new commission for women and girls. The City held\nseveral outreach events and received an enormous positive response from\nthe community and now wishes to establish a five-member commission.\nRECOMMENDED ACTION: Staff recommends City Council waive first\nreading and introduce Ordinance No. 1262, Establishing a Commission for\nthe Advancement of Women and Girls and Adding Chapter 2.50,\n“Commission for the Advancement of Women and Girls,” under Title 2\n“Administration and Personnel" and set for adoption at the next regular city\ncouncil meeting.
