LANGLEY SENIOR CITIZEN CENTER, GARVEY RANCH MUSEUM, AND GEORGE ELDER\nGYMNASIUM ROOFS REPLACEMENT PROJECT – AWARD OF PUBLIC WORKS\nCONTRACT TO BEST CONTRACTING SERVICES, INC.\nIt is recommended that the City Council consider:\n(1) Authorizing the City Manager to execute a public works contract, in a form approved by\nthe City Attorney, with Best Contracting Services, Inc. in the contract amount of $978,450\nfor the Langley Senior Citizen Center, Garvey Ranch Museum, and George Elder\nGymnasium Roofs Replacement Project;\n(2) Authorizing the Director of Public Works to approve change orders not to exceed $97,845\nover the total contract amount; and\n(3) Taking such additional, related, action that may be desirable.\nCEQA (California Environmental Quality Act):\nThe City reviewed the environmental impacts of the proposed Ordinance pursuant to the\nCalifornia Environmental Quality Act (Public Resources Code §§ 21000, et seq. “CEQA”) and\nthe regulations promulgated thereunder (14 Cal. Code of Regs. §§ 15000, et seq., the “CEQA\nGuidelines”). CEQA Guideline § 15301(c) (Existing Facilities) exempts the operation, repair,\nmaintenance, alteration of existing public or private structures which involve negligible or no\nexpansion of existing or former use. The proposed work will occur entirely within an existing\nstructure. Accordingly, no further environmental review is required.
