14. RESOLUTION IN OPPOSITION OF INITIATIVE 21-0042A1; LETTER OF PROTEST\nFOR FAILED EXIDE CLEAN-UP EFFORTS\nComments:\nOn Feb. 1, 2023, the “Taxpayer Protection and Government Accountability Act,” or AG# 21-\n0042A1, qualified for the November 2024 ballot. This anti-local control measure will decimate vital\nlocal and state services to the benefit of wealthy corporations. The measure is sponsored by the\nCalifornia Business Roundtable (CBRT) — the lobbying arm of the largest and wealthiest\ncorporations in California.\nRecommendation:\nStaff recommends that the City Council do the following:\n1. Review and approve a "Resolution to Oppose Initiative 21-0042A1” and execute the\nattached letter informing the League of California Cities that the City of Lynwood joins its\neffort to defeat this proposition.\n2. Execute a letter to Department of Toxic Substances Control protesting the failed efforts to\nclean up the contamination caused by Exide.
