14. AUTHORIZE RFP: DESIGN, CONSTRUCTION AND DECORATION OF THE 2025-2029\nTOURNAMENT OF ROSES PARADE FLOATS – F2M23-33, RFP2M23-9\nAnnually, the City conducts an art drawing contest that includes all elementary school\nstudents that attend school in the City of Alhambra. The winning art will be used each year\nto inspire the 2025, 2026, 2027, 2028, and 2029 Tournament of Roses Floats. After the\n6\n3-13-23\nwinning art has been chosen, the City will seek a professional float builder to provide all\nservices required to be an eligible Rose Parade Float entry. Elements shall include but\nare not limited to the concept, design, construction and floral decorating. Therefore, staff\nrequests City Council authorization to circulate a Request for Proposals to provide Rose\nParade Float design and build services for the 2025-2029 Tournament of Roses Parades.\nProposals will be due to the Parks & Recreation Department in City Hall by 4:00 p.m. on\nApril 13, 2023.\nRecommended Action: City Council authorize staff to circulate a Request for\nProposals to prospective contractors to provide Tournament of Roses Float design and\nbuild services for the 2025-2029 Tournament of Roses Parades, with proposals due by\n4:00 pm on April 13, 2023; and, direct staff to undertake the steps necessary to finalize\nCouncil’s action.
