8. Consideration of Certifying a Final Environmental Impact Report, Adopting Environmental\nFindings, Adopting a Statement of Overriding Considerations, and approving the City of\nLa Verne General Plan Update Policy Document.\nThe General Plan Update identifies the community’s vision for the future and provides a\nframework that will guide decisions on growth, development, and conservation of open space\nand resources in a manner that is consistent with the quality of life desired by the City’s residents\nand businesses. The General Plan Update replaces the City’s 1998 General Plan and\nsubstantially updates local conditions, community priorities and goals, State law, and has been\nreorganized to make the document more user-friendly and straight forward. This action\nconsiders approving the General Plan Policy Document after certifying the Final Environmental\nImpact Report and making environmental findings and a Statement of Overriding Considerations\nas recommended by staff and the Planning Commission.\nRecommendation: It is recommended by the Planning Commission that the City Council adopt\nResolutions certifying the final Environmental Impact Report, Findings of Fact, and the\nStatement of Overriding Considerations, and approve the General Plan Update.\nOTHER MATTERS
