9. Conflicts in State and Federal Immigration Laws and Policies\nRECOMMENDATION:\nThat the City Council considers one of two options:\n1. wait to take action until the Federal and State governments\nresolve inconsistencies in their respective immigration laws\nand policies, or\n2. adopt a Resolution that:\nseeks additional clarification from State and Federal\nofficials on the inconsistencies in their respective\nimmigration laws and policies,\ndeclares the City’s intent to ensure the public safety of all\nresidents, and\nasserts the City’s intent to comply with Federal\nimmigration law to the legal extent permissible under SB\n54 and other applicable laws to remove violent criminals\nfrom our community.
