Agenda Item 7

7. RESOLUTION APPROVING A REVISED COMPREHENSIVE MEMORANDUM OF\nUNDERSTANDING (MOU) WITH THE ALHAMBRA POLICE DISPATCHERS’\nASSOCIATION (APDA), AN AMENDED CLASS SPECIFICATION FOR DISPATCHER\nAND A NEW CLASS SPECIFICATION FOR LEAD DISPATCHER – F2M25-2, C2M21-\n51, R2M25-7, M2M25-15\nOccasionally, opportunities arise that offer the ability to restructure and reorganize existing\nstaffing structures in order to provide improved operations, functions and customer\nservice. With Council’s approval of the new Lead Dispatcher classification, City staff can\nmove one step closer to restructuring the Police Department’s Communications Division\nin Fiscal Year 2025-26, to offer improved and more efficient operations and functions.\nThese changes are in alignment with Goal One of the City’s Strategic Plan to “Enhance\nPublic Safety.” A new Lead Dispatcher Class Specification provides Division personnel\nwith better support. The Lead Dispatcher will be tasked with overseeing, training, and\nleading subordinate dispatchers in handling of calls for law enforcement and in other\nemergency assistance. The existing Dispatcher Class Specification is being amended to\nbring physical demand requirements to current standards.\nRecommended Action: City Council adopt Resolution No. R2M25-7 entitled: A\nResolution of the Alhambra City Council approving a Revised Comprehensive\nMemorandum of Understanding between the City of Alhambra and the Alhambra Police\nDispatchers’ Association, an amended Class Specification for Dispatcher and a new Class\nSpecification for Lead Dispatcher; and, direct staff to undertake the steps necessary to\nfinalize Council’s action.
