Los Angeles County Sheriff Update on Proposition 36 and New District Attorney\nGoals\nIn the November 5, 2024, General Election, California voters approved Proposition\n36, which authorizes felony charges and longer sentences for certain drug and theft\noffenses. Additionally, voters elected a new Los Angeles County District Attorney.\nThe Los Angeles County Sheriff, Temple Station Captain, and Rosemead Chief of\nPolice will provide an update on the passage of Proposition 36 and outline the goals\nof the newly elected District Attorney.\nRecommendation: That the City Council discuss and provide direction if necessary.
