9A. CITY COUNCIL CONSIDERATION FOR APPOINTMENTS TO FILL TEN (10)\nVACANCIES ON THE STANTON COMMUNITY SERVICES COMMISSION, STANTON\nPLANNING COMMISSION, AND STANTON PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE FOR\nTERMS COINCIDING WITH THE CITY COUNCIL ELECTION\nConsideration for appointments to fill ten (10) vacancies on the Stanton Community\nServices Commission, Stanton Planning Commission, and Stanton Public Safety\nCommittee. There are currently four (4) vacancies within the Stanton Community\nServices Commission, three (3) vacancies within the Stanton Planning Commission, and\nthree (3) vacancies within the Public Safety Committee due to unexpected vacancies and\nterms expired due to the November 2024 General Municipal Election.\nThe Mayor/Council Member holding the seat number corresponding to the numbered seat\non the Commission/Committee shall be responsible for the appointment of one\nCommissioner/Committee Member, with majority approval of the City Council. The terms\nof office shall coincide with the term of office of the Mayor or Council Member who made\nthe appointment. Additionally, Section 2.06.030 of the Stanton Municipal Code provides\nthat the City Council, by majority vote, may waive the requirement to interview persons\npreviously appointed by the City Council and who are requesting re-appointment to\nanother term.\nRECOMMENDED ACTION:\n1. City Council find that this item is not subject to California Environmental Quality Act\n(“CEQA”) pursuant to Sections 15378(b)(5)(Organizational or administrative activities\nof governments that will not result in direct or indirect physical changes in the\nenvironment); and\n2. Conduct an interview with each applicant; and\n3. Make appointments to fill seats #1-Taylor, #3-Torres, #4-Warren, and #5-Barrios on\nthe Stanton Community Services Commission; and\n4. Make appointments to fill seats #3-Torres, #4-Warren, and #5-Barrios on the Stanton\nPlanning Commission; and\n5. Make appointments to fill seats #1-Taylor, #4-Warren, and #5-Barrios on the Stanton\nPublic Safety Committee.\nMarch 11, 2025
